-1903 Caledonia Curling Club is established
-1940’s exchanged real estate with the City of Mankato. Used site to provide canned goods for troops during WWII
-1950’s Curling Club was relocated
-1964 City constructed a new building
-1964 New concrete floor installed
-2013 & 2014 Equipment issues result in shorter seasons
-2015 Ice equipment completely fails
-2016 City of Mankato has offered a loan to purchase new equipment and flooring
Today!
The City of Mankato has voted to partner with the club to rebuild the major components of the rink.
MCC’s responsibility:
- Freon Ice Plant
- Insulation & Piping
- Electrical Upgrades
- Total cost: $251,000
City of Mankato’s plans (several years)
- New concrete floor (2016)
- Equipment room remodel
- Equipment room HVAC
- New perimeter walkway
- Total cost: $179,000
If needed, the City of Mankato would lend the club $225,000 at a 4% interest rate.
If we can raise $100,000 in contributions and pledges by July 31, 2016 the donor match will bring us up to $200,000 and we will be:
- Nearly debt free
- Have a new floor and piping
- Have a new ice plant
- Curling by January 1, 2017!

Mankato Curling Club Benefits our Region
- Mission: The MCC is a recreational and social organization serving the curling community and the greater Mankato area. We are dedicated to providing a superior curling experience for all ages.
- MCC provides a lifetime sport option - a top five goal from the E2020 Community Survey.
- The club has a history of success serving our community.
- League play for 225+ adult members & 100+ youth in junior curling as of 2013.
- Members have been competitive nationally & internationally, providing role models, mentors, & positive publicity.
- Community events including: Team building, learn to curl and open houses.
- Clear fit for Mankato Area Healthy Youth & helps address the need for out-of-school programs.
- Junior curling program gives all kids the opportunity to excel in a lifetime sport.
- Caiti Flannery, a Mankato West sophomore - 2016 silver medallist at Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway as a member of Team USA.
- Mankato area members Caiti Flannery, Melissa Runing, and Aly Deegan - 2016 USA Curling Junior Women’s National Championship silver medallists.
- Bonspiels (tournaments) bring in out-of-town teams which enhance the local economy through expenditures for travel, food and lodging.
